The Twist & Shout Nymph

Materials

  • Size 12 Hook
  • Tungsten Bead
  • Red UTC 70 Thread
  • Fire Orange or Neon Green UTC 140 Thread
  • Clear Cure Goo Hydro
  • Peacock Herl
  • Hares Ear Mask
  • Partridge Feather
  • Dubbing Wax

Directions

  1. Put the bead on the hook before putting the hook in the vice.
  2. Attach the orange or green thread to the rear of the hook and form a small cigar shape. Whip finish and cut off any excess.
  3. Apply a small amount CCG Hydro to this thread and zap with UV light.
  4. Tie in the red thread at the bead of the hook and take wraps going down towards the recently cured orange thread.
  5. Tie in 4 strands of peacock herl at the back of the hook.
  6. After the peacock is tied in form a dubbing loop with the red thread.
  7. Apply a small amount of dubbing wax to the thread.
  8. Cut a small amount of hares ear off and apply it to the dubbing loop. Pull peacock through the dubbing loop and begin to twist to form a dubbing noodle.
  9. Wrap the dubbing noodle up to the bead and tie off using the the red thread.
  10. Tie in the partridge feather, then take several wraps to form the soft hackle collar.
  11. Tie off the partridge feather and whip finish.

Materials

  • Size 12 Hook
  • Tungsten Bead
  • Black UTC 70 Thread
  • Green UTC Holo Tinsel
  • Peacock Krystal Flash
  • Copper Wire
  • Peacock Herl
  • Clear Cure Goo Hydro

Directions

  1. Put your bead on your hook before putting it in the vice.
  2. Start the fly by attaching your thread to the hook just behind the bead. Take several wraps and cut off any excess thread.
  3. Tie in the Krystal Flash just behind the bead leaving an inch or so above the bead for the wings of the fly. Tie the rest of the Krystal Flash in with the thread down to the bend of the hook to form the fly’s tails.
  4. Tie in the Holo Tinsel and Copper Wire where you stopped at the bend of the hook. Then bring the thread back to the bead of the hook.
  5. Whip finish the thread and put in on a thread cradle.
  6. Wrap the Holo Tinsel to the head of the bead making sure with every wrap you over lap the previous wrap. Tie off the holo tinsel.
  7. Apply a lite coating of CCG Hydro and zap with UV light.
  8. Tie in the peacock herl and take several wraps with the peacock before forming the wings with the Krystal Flash. Take a couple more wraps with the peacock to finish the thorax before securing it to the hook.
  9. Whip finish.
  10. Trim both the wings and the tails of Krystal Flash to desired length.

Materials

Size 12 Hook

Brown UTC 70 Thread

Wapsi SLF Prism Sand Dubbing

Clear Cure Goo Hydro

Instructions

  1. Apply the thread to shank part of the hook and clip off any excess.
  2. Dub on a small portion of Waspi SLF Prism Sand Dubbing to your thread.
  3. Make a small ball using the dubbing at the end of your hook. 
  4. Whip finish.
  5. Apply small amounts of CCG Hydro to start forming your egg. 
  6. Once you have your egg formed use a UV Light to cure the CCG Hydro.
